• Ever heard about "Doulos"?

The Doulos story is far from a common one.

The crew is made of volunteers who devote themselves to God and "serve" onboard for a determined period of time. They are God and Doulos servants (it is what the Greek word "doulos" means)
They come from all over the world and those who want to join may board at different points of the planet.

  • Hong Kong stop

Translate it into Hong Kong culture: it is advertised as part of your Ocean Terminal Shopping Experience. Then your Doulos entry ticket give you access to some - great...- shopping privileges...

Even the more reluctant to Christian Faith may find the visit worth, as the Book Fair has a Business books section and offers quite attractive prices.

It attracts some visitors, less than the nearby Microsoft X-Box demo area yet!

  • Want to have a look ?
They will host an "International Night" on Friday 26th (of June) night : if  you want to feel the atmosphere and meet some of the crew members, it may be the right time to go. Anyway, with such an international mixture it should be a lot of fun, even for the more reluctant !

Otherwise, the boat will stay at  Ocean Terminal (Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui) till  July  4. It is very easy to get there from the Star Ferry Terminal.

opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday : 10am – 9pm
Sunday to Monday : 2pm – 9pm
22nd June, Monday : 10am – 9pm
4th July, Saturday : 10am – 9pm

Ocean Terminal, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui”

You may buy your entry ticket (HKD 10 for visiting, HKD 30 for the International Night) either directly in front of the boat,
For events, you may alternatively buy your ticket at YMCA - 41, Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon or at the Methodist Bookshop - Basement, 22 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

so if you are around there, be part of it by switching off light between 20h30 and 21h30

WWF even supported the production of a dedicated theme song called Light up your dream !

By joining this world campaign, you will contribute to relay "Earth's voice"

It is a kind of Vote for the Planet
.

"It's as simple as the flick of a switch", said WWF instigators.

"It is our turn to make a difference. On 28 March 2009, Hong Kong, will be joining Beijing and Shanghai to make history by joining Earth Hour, turning off the lights for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

It will be a time when Hong Kong joins other cities around the globe to turn our city dark, and for Hong Kong people to think about how we can change our lifestyles to reduce our impact on the environment, It will be a time when we rejoice and celebrate our determination to save our planet; it will be a time when we encourage our families, friends and colleagues to take actions on climate change.

We can make a big difference with one simple action. So gear up for what will be the biggest and most important Earth Hour of our planet's history. Join us for Earth Hour 2009, and turn off your lights at 8:30pm on Saturday, 28 March for a brighter future. We will see hope in darkness"

If you need to issue a visa in Hong Kong, you have to know that unfortunately it is not back to normal ! (despite China CITS told last September it would be back to normal from October 2008).
Without Hong Kong ID, you basically cannot apply for a multi-entries visa to China. Two entries with a 6 months validity is the best option you may obtain !
Some people managed to obtain multi-entries visa from abroad (not from Hong Kong), but it is uncertain. A the moment , it is still a matter of luck !

Besides, same day visa service isn't available anymore.

Entries / Delay 4 working days 3 working days 2 working days
Single Entry HKD 310 HKD 560 HKD 930
Two Entries HKD 450 HKD 700 HKD 1070

Alternatively, you also may obtain it directly from the Chinese Consulate, located in Wanchai, close to the Hong Hong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC): you will queue more and pay less, it is up to you !
